(More customer reviews)The KidKraft Fun Explorers Submarine is a great toy to get a child that really likes hands-on play. It does require some assembly, but I think I had it together and my son playing with it in about 30 minutes or so.
What is great about this toy is that it is so solidly made. The main structure itself is made of a laminated wood, and it seems like they put some time into making sure that each piece was solid and not susceptible to splintering and the like. The plastic pieces that are included also seem to be pretty durable.
It comes with enough accessories that a group of kids can easily play together with this and not have to fight about it. This was purchased for son who was about to turn 7, but the older kids liked playing with it too.
It is rather large, though, so you want to make sure that you have somewhere to put this away when the kids aren't playing with it. Although assembly is pretty simple, you're not going to want to take this apart and put it back together every time they're done playing.
