It was really easy to put together, but one of the pieces of wood did crack when screwing it to the base - we were using a screw gun so it may be advisable to use a screwdriver. It is wonderful to be able to move the sections of the house around as well as the two staircases. The ability to be able to access each room from nearly all sides of the house is another great feature. My daughter is only two, but she has been able to manipulate people and things around the house with relative ease. Definitely recommend!
